Staff
- Jolene Stading Puhalla serves as the Director of the Open Door Community Center. Jolene holds a B.S. in Elementary Education and a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Mary, Bismarck.
- Assistant Director LeAnn Lindteigen is a 2009 graduate of Valley City State University, with a bachelor’s degree in education. She has an elementary education major and athletic coaching minor. She is credentialed in reading and math and has a middle school endorsement in English. LeAnn holds a North Dakota teaching license.
- In addition, the Open Door utilizes assistants, including parents and other volunteers, in the preschool and summer day camp programs. Linda Suko prepares the noon meal. Vicki Eastgate volunteers as librarian, processing and organizing the library and media center. Marvia Boettcher reads and tells stories each month. Gloria Knoll provides monthly music lessons. Many other volunteers read to the children and engage them in various activities. Students from the University of Mary and area high schools are typically employed as summer staff.
- University of Mary nursing students conduct health screenings annually. The University of Mary SPURS host holiday parties for the preschool children, and United Methodist mission and youth groups assist at special events, clean-up of the grounds, and other tasks.
